All sites will show as closed on the reservation system for Medicine Lodge Kid Outdoor Day. Priority use of the sites will be for the families of the participants. To make a reservation, parents/guardians of the participant(s) will need to call the park directly at 307.469.2234. (The reservation window still applies. 120 days prior to WY residents, 113 days prior for out-of-state residents)

The group area is very popular and will fill up fast.

More than 10,000 years of rich, cultural history thrives at Medicine Lodge amongst the endless outdoor recreation opportunities. Wildlife viewing and opportunities for adventure are amongst the best in the state.
The Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation is pleased to announce two additional recipients of the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation ARPA Grant program accounting for an added $509,836 in allocated funding. To date, the grant program has awarded $2,612,359 for outdoor recreation projects across the state.
Two additional Wyoming Outdoor Recreation ARPA Grant applications were approved in early January including $486,736 for the City of Cheyenne’s Belvoir Ranch Trailhead and $23,100 for the City of Kemmerer’s Youth Fishing Pond Rehabilitation.
Made available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds appropriated by the Wyoming Legislature and approved by Governor Mark Gordon, the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation ARPA Grant program was established to award funding to public outdoor recreation projects throughout the state.
On November 1, the Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation announced the second round of the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation ARPA Grant program with an application deadline of January 26, 2024 at 5 pm.
Applicants are invited to join the Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation, the Wyoming State Budget Department, and CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) LLP for an hour-long overview and Q&A on the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation ARPA Grant program on January 17th, 2024 at 10:00 am.
Applicants are encouraged to come prepared with any questions relating to the project they are seeking funding for. Meeting details are as follows:

The area which is now Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site has been continuously occupied for more than 10,000 years. Homesteaded in 1884 by Byron F. Wickwire; Medicine Lodge was originally a working cattle ranch. The ranch was purchased in 1972 by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department which created the 12,000 acre Medicine Lodge Wildlife Habitat Management Area.
In 1973, a portion of the habitat management area was developed into Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site where cultural history and recreational access continues today.
General Site Information:
No day use fee's are required
Camping fees per night and per vehicle are as follows:
Wyoming Resident: $10.00 Non-Resident: $18.00 (taxes not included in listed prices)
Must camp in a designated campsite. Two (2) vehicle maximum per site.
Camping reservations are required from May 1 - September 30. To make a reservation, please call 877-WYO-PARK (877-996-7275) or go online to reserve.wyoming.gov.
Public Horse Corrals are available and free of charge. Certified weed seed free hay is required inside the park. Please be courteous and scoop manure to the alley ways of the corrals for easy cleanup by site staff.
Vehicles in the park after 10:00PM shall have a valid camping permit displayed

The group area has a reservation fee of $75.00 per day. Camping fees still apply per vehicle/per night to be paid upon arrival.
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the Wyoming Division of State Parks, Historic Sites, and Trails invites our visitors to download PDFs of our brochures on their devices before heading to our parks and historic sites. Cell coverage at some of our sites can be limited, pre-loading our brochures not only ensures availability but saves on paper, as well.
