Guernsey State Park is a registered national historic landmark. The park has long been known as a haven for camping, boating and hiking, but its real treasure may lie in the wonderful work completed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that can be seen throughout the park. The Castle, the Museum, Brimmer Point Overlook and miles of hiking trails were all built to provide a striking vantage point of this special area. Lake Side Drive, with it many pull-off areas, runs along the entire eastern shoreline of the reservoir and provides spectacular views of the lake and the canyon.
