The Register Cliff State Historical Site (RCSHS) area was an an important overnight resting area along the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails during the great western migration of the mid 1800’s. Nearly 500,000 emigrants passed through the RCSHS area on their journeys west. Many pioneers marked passage through the area by engraving their names and dates on the soft sandstone cliff face found at RCSHS.
RCSHS is located three miles south of the town of Guernsey. Visitors to the site can easily find the historic names engraved in the cliff face by following the trail from the parking area along the cliff face.
