Hiking - SINKS CANYON

About:

Sinks Canyon offers spectacular hiking adventures for the whole family. Trails begin at several locations including the Rise, the Visitors Center and the Popo Agie Campground.  Trails range from 1/4 mile to 2 miles one way. 

The Sinks To Rise Trail is an ADA accessible, paved Braille Trail that offers a guide rope and accessible interpretive graphics for the visually impaired. 

All trails except the Sinks To  Rise Trail are unpaved, primative trails. 

The Sunnyside Trail is a multi-use trail open to hikers and non-motorized bikes. 

 

More information: 

  • The North Slope Trail cannot be accessed from the Sinks to Rise trail during Popo Agie River overflow events.

Attention: All campsites and the Sawmill Shelter are now first-come, first served.

Yurts are available on the reservation system, and must be reserved 48 hours in advance. 

The Visitor Center is closed for the season. 

 

Please Note: Water will be turned off in the Popo Agie Campground in mid-October. 

Yurts are availalbe year round through the reservation system

Campsites are reservation only May 1st-Sept 30th.
Sites 12 and 15 in the Popo Agie Campground are first come first-served year round.

Sawmill Shelter can be reserved through the reservation system May 1st-Sept 30th. 

Campsites and the Sawmill Shelter are first-come first served, Oct 1st - April 30th. 
Campsite and shelter access is weather dependent.

  • Facilities are open to the public from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. year-round. After 10pm, all campground visitors must be staying at the campground.
  • The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 23 through September 1.
