Hiking - SINKS CANYON

About:

Sinks Canyon offers spectacular hiking adventures for the whole family. Trails begin at several locations including the Rise, the Visitors Center and the Popo Agie Campground.  Trails range from 1/4 mile to 2 miles one way. 

The Sinks To Rise Trail is an ADA accessible, paved Braille Trail that offers a guide rope and accessible interpretive graphics for the visually impaired. 

All trails except the Sinks To  Rise Trail are unpaved, primative trails. 

The Sunnyside Trail is a multi-use trail open to hikers and non-motorized bikes. 

 

More information: 

  • The North Slope Trail cannot be accessed from the Sinks to Rise trail during Popo Agie River overflow events.

Site Status

 

Attention: Water is on in the Popo Agie Campground as of May 1st, 2026. 

All campsites and the Sawmill Shelter are now reservation only - except sites 12 and 15. 

Yurts are available on the reservation system, and must be reserved 24 hours in advance. 

The Visitor Center will open on May 22nd, 2026.

 

Please Note: Water has been turned on in the Popo Agie Campground on May 1st, 2026

Yurts are availalbe year round through the reservation system

Campsites are reservation only 
May 1st-Sept 30th.
Sites 12 and 15 in the Popo Agie Campground are first come first-served year round.

Sawmill Shelter can be reserved through the reservation system
May 1st-Sept 30th. 

Campsites and the Sawmill Shelter are first-come first served,
Oct 1st - April 30th. 
Campsite and shelter access is weather dependent.

  • Facilities are open to the public from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. year-round. After 10pm, all campground visitors must be staying at the campground.
  • The Visitor Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 22 through September 7.
