Overlooks- WYOMING TERRITORIAL PRISON

Connect with nature on the trail north to the scenic overlook on the Big Laramie River. This area is home to many species of fish, animals, birds and insects. Interpretative signs along the trail and at overlook help identify the wildlife in the area.

- Laramie River Nature Trail – This trail begins at the prison stockade and winds north along the Laramie River to a scenic overlook shelter at a bend in the river. Interpretation topics include Laramie Basin Inhabitants; Geology and Soils; Riparian Wetland Mammals; Riparian/Wetland Habitats; Riparian Bird Life; Riparian/Wetland Vegetation; Laramie River Flora and Fauna; Laramie River Fishery
The overlook is located on the river, ¼ mile north of Prison Stockade.

The Dump Station is currently open. Water is OFF for the season. The Historic Site is on Winter Hours. Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10AM - 3PM.

Tour Information GUIDED TOURS are typically offered late May - early September and are included with the entrance fee. Times and days are subject to change. Pay entrance fee upon arrival. SELF-GUIDED TOURS are available during open hours. Pay entrance fee upon arrival. FEES $9 Adults/Seniors $4.50 Ages 12-17 Children ages 11 and under are Free.
