Sinks Canyon State Park invites the community to a special celebration on Saturday night in honor of the park’s recent DarkSky International designation.
From 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Sinks Canyon visitor center will host a DarkSky Party, generously sponsored by the Wind River Visitors Council.
Attendees will be treated to light bites and non-alcoholic beverages provided by the Wind River Visitors Council. At 8 p.m., a Dark Sky presentation will offer insights into the significance of our dark sky designation. This will be followed by a captivating Star Program presented by Casper College staff at 8:45 p.m., where visitors can experience the awe-inspiring night sky in one of the premier stargazing locations.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable event, please take note of the following important information:
· No Dogs Allowed: To prevent trip hazards in the dark, we kindly ask you to leave your dogs at home.
· Star Gazing App: Enhance your stargazing experience by downloading an app like StarTracker before the event.
· Lighting: We recommend bringing low-lumen or red light flashlights to navigate safely back to your vehicles after dark.
· Parking: Due to limited parking, we encourage carpooling. If you are able-bodied, please park at the Rise and walk to the visitor center. Roadside parking is available but be cautious of traffic.
· Seating: Bring your own lawn chair for comfort during the presentations and star gazing.
Join us for an unforgettable night under the stars as we celebrate this prestigious recognition and the natural beauty of Sinks Canyon's dark skies. We look forward to seeing you there!
