Fire Ban Instituted for Glendo and Guernsey State Parks July 18, 2023
To help protect the natural resources in Platte County, open fires are restricted at Glendo and Guernsey State Parks beginning July 18, 2023.
Despite these fire restrictions instituted by the Platte County Commission, an enjoyable camping experience is still possible. Propane grills/stoves and charcoal grills can still be used to cook and provide warmth. Grills/stoves must have covers/lids and be within arm’s length when lit.
Finally, please remember that the possession of fireworks is ALWAYS prohibited in all Wyoming State Parks.
ALERT: LOW WATER LEVELS – GUERNSEY RESERVOIR
The annual Guernsey silt run will soon begin. Water levels will be affected drastically. Beginning on July 9th, the release of water from Glendo reservoir will be decreased. Guernsey reservoir will lower rapidly, with boat ramps becoming unusable by July 15th. The reservoir should be suitable for boating again by August 4th.

Keyhole State Park to follow Crook County fire restrictions
In accordance with restrictions instituted by the Crook County Commission, open fires are restricted at Keyhole State Parks beginning July 22, 2022.
Despite these fire restrictions, an enjoyable camping experience is still possible. Propane grills/stoves can still be used to prepare popular camping dishes. These grills must have covers/lids and be within an arm’s length when lit. Charcoal grills and stoves are not permitted. A variety of other imaginative ideas can help preserve the camping experience such as solar lights in the firepit.
However, as always, the possession of fireworks is prohibited in all Wyoming State Parks.
