Learn about the primitive processing and extraction of metallic ores during the Stamp Mill and Arrastra demonstration at South Pass City each Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. beginning July 13 and ending September 1. An Arrastra is a primitive mill for grinding and pulverizing (typically) gold or silver ore. A Stamp Mill is a type of mill machine that crushes material by pounding rather than grinding, either for further processing or for extraction of metallic ores. South Pass City staff demonstrate both methods with working machinery like those used during the operation of the Carissa Mine. Call South Pass City @ 307-332-3684 for more information.
