Hiking - KEYHOLE

About:

Keyhole State Park has two hiking trails. The Marina Trail is of concrete, and is an easy 1.5 mile long trek. The second trail is 2.8 miles long, and is a bit more challenging.

  • Both trails start at Park Headquarters.
  • The Marina Trail runs from headquarters to the Keyhole Marina.
  • The Cottonwood trail, starts at headquarters, and runs through the Homestead Campground to the Cottonwood Campground.

Trails are available year-round. However, snow may be a factor in availability.

Keyhole Public Forum
The Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources has hosted three public forums to update the public and gather feedback on a proposed visitor center in the Coulter Bay Area at Keyhole State Park.

Coulter Bay Boat Dock:

The dock is currently in and available for use.

 

Facilities:

All campgrounds are open, the water is on, and the shower house is available.

 

Tatanka Campground:

Sites with both electric and water hookups are available.

 

Coulter Bay Campground:

Sites with electric hookups are available.

 

Quiet Hours:

10 PM – 8 AM. Please, no music or generators during this time.

 

 

  • Camping reservation season is May 15th - September 15th. All campsites are first come, first served outside of this time period. Cabins in Tatanka may be reserved year-round through Reserve.Wyoming.Gov. A reservation is needed 48 hours in advance during the off-season.
  • Docks and water systems are typically available annually from May 15th - October 15th (weather permitting).
  • RV dump station is available seasonally, weather dependent.
  • Fish cleaning station is available seasonally.
  • Call 307-756-3596 to check current availability.

  • Our site is open year-round.
  • Our fee booths (card only) are open Memorial Day through Labor Day. When the booths are closed, please use the automated fee machines (card only) located at every entrance or the fee canister (cash/check only) at the Headquarters entrance to pay fees.
  • The shower house is currently closed.
