Hawk Springs State Recreation Area has 4 sets of horseshoe pits to enjoy while visiting the park.

The horseshoe pits are found adjacent to the campground and are easily accessed off of the only road through the park.

The horseshoe pits of the park are useable throughout the year.

Appropriate Daily Use and Overnight Camping fees apply. A self-pay canister is located at the park’s entrance.

Toxin Advisory applies to the following locations: Northwest Ramp



Avoid contact with water in the vicinity of the bloom, Do not ingest water from the bloom, Rinse fish with clean water and eat only the fillet portion, Avoid water spray from the bloom, Do not allow pets or livestock to drink water near the bloom, eat bloom material, or lick fur after contact.

If people, pets, or livestock come into contact with a bloom,
rinse off with clean water as soon as possible and contact a doctor or veterinarian.

  • With the appropriate fees and permits, Hawk Springs State Recreation Area is open 24 hours per day year-around.
  • Site potable water hydrants are useable from May 1 - September 30.
