About:

Hawk Springs State Recreation Area (HSSRA) has long been a destination for fishing enthusiasts. The small lake at HSSRA provides excellent boat fishing and shoreline fishing opportunities for anglers from around the region.

The lake/reservoir borders the park and is easily accessed upon entering the park.

Whether it is open water fishing in the warm months of the year to ice fishing in the winter months fishing opportunities are great all year-around.

Appropriate Daily Use and Overnight camping fees apply. A self-pay canister is located at the park’s entrance.

Avoid contact with water in the vicinity of the bloom, Do not ingest water from the bloom, Rinse fish with clean water and eat only the fillet portion, Avoid water spray from the bloom, Do not allow pets or livestock to drink water near the bloom, eat bloom material, or lick fur after contact.

If people, pets, or livestock come into contact with a bloom,
rinse off with clean water as soon as possible and contact a doctor or veterinarian.

  • With the appropriate fees and permits, Hawk Springs State Recreation Area is open 24 hours per day year-around.
  • Site potable water hydrants are useable from May 1 - September 30.
