A new state-of-the-art, green-certified, visitor center opened in 2014. This 8,700 SF building features several environmentally friendly elements including beetle kill framing and T&G decking. “Smart Framing” was integrated in the design to economize the number of studs and reduce the amount of overall framing. The building includes a lobby and exhibit area, a multipurpose room, and staff offices, as well as coin operated public showers for park visitors on the lower level (open 24 hours, 7 days). The Visitor's Center received a LEED Platinum rating. An extensive display about Curt Gowdy as well as information about the park and activities is housed in the Visitor’s Center.
