Glendo State Park invites you to join us for a night around the campfire, and a program on outdoor safety on June 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Whiskey Gulch picnic shelter.

The event begins with a demonstration of safe and effective fire-building. Attendees will have the chance to help build the fire, and the roasting of s’mores later in the evening.

Later, Park staff will take guests through several brief, interactive exercises to learn the basics of outdoor survival. Next, the essentials of preparing for a trip outside, and what to do in the event that you become lost, or find yourself in a situation where you need to stay the night outside of an established camp.

No campfire would be complete without s’mores, so the program concludes with a chance for all attendees to roast marshmallows and build s’mores with supplies provided by Rooch’s Marina. This program is open to all members of the public, and is appropriate for all age groups.

Standard park fees will apply, though the event itself has no extra fee for attendance. For more information, please contact Glendo State Park at 307-735-4433.

We look forward to seeing you there!
