The popular Sinks Canyon Run Like a Bighorn Trail run and walk set for this Saturday, September 12, has been postponed. The race has been moved to Saturday October 3 at 8 a.m.

The Labor Day snowstorm dropped over a foot of snow on Sinks Canyon, and between the snow and muddy tail conditions, the course isn’t safe.

The race, in its eighth year, is a fundraiser for the interpretive program on the park and is sponsored by the Sinks Canyon Natural Resource Council. It is co-sponsored by WyoClimbers and Meridian Trust.

Trail runners traverse the canyon, going through the many habitats. Walkers and families are also encouraged to participate. “Everybody who does the course gets a t-shirt,” said Park Superintendent Jamie Simonson. “The entry fee goes to help us build displays in the visitors center,” he said.

The entry fee is $25 for adults and $10 for kids under 13.

Runners can sing up at Runsignup.com, by calling the park at 307-332-6333, or the morning of the race.
